"Teamwork, cuddly rituals and effective sleep solutions"

„Teamwork, Kuschelrituale und effektive Schlaflösungen“

An interview for Mother's Day with Johanna Jaroschek, mother of three from Gräfelfing near Munich

Mother's Day 2025 is just around the corner – a good opportunity to take a look behind the scenes and find out how working mothers balance family, career and sleep.
We spoke with Johanna, a mother of three from Gräfelfing near Munich, who gave us honest and personal insights into her everyday family life.

“The shining eyes of my children are priceless.”

Mother's Day, family and small rituals

Dailydream:
Are you looking forward to Mother's Day 2025? Do you have any family rituals?

Johanna:
Oh yes, I'm so happy! My children's little handmade gifts are especially beautiful—their pride and shining eyes are simply priceless.
A large, hearty breakfast is a must for us. No stress, just enjoy it together.

Dailydream:
What do you think is the best thing about being a mom – and what do you find the biggest challenge?

Johanna:
The best things are the carefree moments with my children – when we laugh, play, or simply forget about everyday life.
The biggest challenge is to always be there for everyone and at the same time not to lose sight of yourself.

“Sleep changes – but routines and rituals help”

Changes in sleep and new routines

Dailydream:
How has your sleeping habits changed since the birth of your children?

Johanna:
With children, sleep naturally changes: Especially in the first few years, you wake up more often – that's just part of it.
Today, our two oldest children (7 and 5 years old) sleep soundly through the night, and our youngest (2 years old) rarely needs our company at night. This makes the nights more restful again.

Dailydream:
What is your biggest challenge when it comes to sleep right now?

Johanna:
Going to bed early enough! When the kids are asleep, I often treat myself to some "me time," and then it quickly gets late. Especially on office days, I realize how precious every hour of sleep is.

Dailydream:
What evening rituals help you to relax?

Johanna:
Our evenings follow a fixed routine: We read a book together, I sing a lullaby, and gently massage her back.
Sometimes I paint little pictures on their backs for them to guess—that's their favorite moment. I also leave the door open and a light on in the hallway—these little rituals provide a lot of comfort.

“Good sleep is the foundation for being there for others.”

Why sleep is essential for families

Dailydream:
How important is restful sleep for you – physically and mentally?

Johanna:
Very important! After a good night's sleep, I can really feel my energy, calmness, and joy returning.Without enough sleep, I get stressed and unfocused more quickly – and the children notice this too.

Dailydream:
Was there a particular aha moment regarding sleep and self-care?

Johanna:
Yes, absolutely: When I was able to sleep through the night again after weaning, and my husband took over getting up at night. Those nights were like little sources of strength—they strengthened me for good.

Dailydream:
What tips do you have for restful child sleep?

Johanna:
Providing closeness without overtaxing them. I explain to my children at night that I'm nearby. This trust helps them fall asleep peacefully.

“Structure in everyday life gives us freedom.”

Organization and small everyday helpers

Dailydream:
How do you organize your family life as a working mother?

Johanna:
A weekly meal plan saves an incredible amount of time.
In addition, there are small everyday helpers like a robot vacuum cleaner or a Thermomix that make many things easier. Our children take on small tasks like laying out clothes for the next day – this brings structure and relaxes everyday life.

Dailydream:
What advice would you give to new mothers regarding sleep and recovery?

Johanna:
Teamwork is key! Taking turns getting up at night takes a huge toll. Established evening routines create predictability and security for everyone. Even if it means some initial restrictions, in the long run, regular routines provide a lot of peace and quiet in everyday life.

Dailydream – our anchor for relaxed nights

Dailydream:
Finally, what does Dailydream mean to you and your family?

Johanna:
Our whole family sleeps on the Dailydream 3-in-1 mattress – and we love it!
My CozyCloud Twist pillow has also become indispensable: It's soft, supportive, and wonderfully adaptable. Especially in everyday mom life, good sleep is worth its weight in gold – and Dailydream accompanies us every day.
